Media Business Insight, owner of Screen International, has been acquired by UK listed company GlobalData Plc to help accelerate growth and create new products and services from MBI’s leading brands in the TV, film and marketing sectors .
MBI’s brands, including Screen International, Broadcast, The Media Production and Technology Show, ALF, The Knowledge and KFTV, will join the GlobalData group, one of the fastest growing information and analytics companies.
GlobalData has offices in 20 markets around the world, employs more than 3,500 people, and provides data, information and analytics to businesses and clients across a wide range of industries, including construction, energy, healthcare, agriculture and sports.
MBI’s market-leading data and analytics brands will continue to provide their core services, but will also form the cornerstone of a new smart media and entertainment service offering within the GlobalData business. The move will also support the further development of MBI’s own intelligence services, including Broadcast Intelligence, ALF and Production Intelligence.

MBI employs 85 staff from various brands in offices in London and Los Angeles, who will now join the GlobalData group.
Media Business Insight was created by MBO from the Ascential group led by Conor Dignam and Alison Pitchford in 2014, backed by VCT investors Mobeus Equity Partners.
MBI owns a number of news, intelligence and information brands focused on the media and marketing sectors, including Screen International, Broadcast, Account List File (ALF), The Media Production and Technology Show, as well as data and intelligence brands including Broadcast Intelligence, The Knowledge. , Production Intelligence, KFTV and a number of industry leading awards including the Broadcast Awards, Broadcast Sport Awards and Screen Awards. It recently acquired the Rapid TV News brand.
Both Dignam and Pitchford will remain in business under the new owner.

Gresham House, owner of Mobeus VCT funds, will exit its investment in MBI as part of the sale.

The sale of our stake is a positive outcome for all parties”.
